Backstory:
The year is 1988. The cold war is starting to wind down in most places, but positioned in the Fulda gap, you have no time to relax.
5 Hours ago, a bomber departed from a nearby airfield, but suffered a catastrophic malfunction, resulting in the Thermonuclear device it was carrying crashing through the bomb bay doors and landing somewhere in the German countryside. Thankfully due to safety measures, the warhead did not activate, however it is imperative that the nuke is recovered ASAP. Red Army Faction has been active in this area in the past, and the fears are that if it's not recovered quickly, it could fall into the hands of Baader-Meinhoff and their Palestinian allies.
Notes:
1) You are playing as 1980s US army, but there will be 4 slots open for a Bundeswehr special operations team to come with you. The Germans will have different equipment, but broadly the same capabilities. Choose them if you like the G3. It's first come, first served
2) We have a vague idea of where the nuke should be, highlighted on the map in red. But there is still a significant amount of ground to cover. The nuke should have landed reasonably near to a town however. If you find that one stubborn guy that refuses to evacuate when given the signal, they might be able to tell you if they've seen it.
3) We're fairly certain terrorists are operating in the area, be on your highest alert.
Objectives:
1) Locate the nuke
2) Secure the nuke site and ensure no bad actors get their hands on it.
3) If you do encounter terrorists, destroy them.
