Tldr: You're sandwiched between 2 factions that both want to kill you, get out with the journalist and your lives.
Alpha team objectives:
Keep the journalist alive
Regroup with remaining ION elements and gear up at our field HQ
Help defend from counterattacks and await further orders
Bravo team objectives:
Don't let the field HQ get captured by the enemy
Support Alpha's retreat with mortar fire
Await further orders once regroupped with Alpha
Notes:
You are under a strict ROE, due to the confusion about the current situation do not fire unless fired upon until ordered otherwise by command
If the journalist dies or the base gets captured by the enemy, the mission will be considered a failure, you can still play through it to the end though.
Alpha team's kit is very light due to them not planning for being stuck in an all out war, your mission endurance will be very poor until you get to rearm
Briefing:
We've been deployed to the middle east protecting a high profile jounalist for a year now, all things considered it has been relatively calm but today, things took a turn for the worse. The simmering tensions between government loyalists and revolutionaries finally erupted into a full-blown civil war. Our job just got a hell of a lot more complicated. Command still has no idea what has happened or why but one thing is clear, if we want to live through this shitshow we need to regroup our forces and get out while we still have the manpower to fight our way out. Remember, due to international suspicion arising from ''allegations'' of warcrimes during our previous deployments in Africa, we're operating under a strict ROE in an attempt to minimize collateral damage. Maintain the highest level of restraint until a target is confirmed as hostile.
